What is a chronological resume? A chronological resume lists your work experiences and achievements starting from the current or most recent one and following up with previous jobs below. For this exact reason, the chronological resume is the perfect choice for jobseekers who have plenty of experience and achievements to list on their resume.

Now that we have covered the chronological resume lets learn what a function resume is. A functional resume, sometimes called a skills-based resume, places the focus on your skills and areas of expertise, rather than on the details of your work history.

Finally let us learn what a combination resume is. A combination resume, aka a hybrid resume, combines two traditional resume formats. It is a mix of the reverse-chronological resume and the functional resume format. As in, it places equal emphasis both on your skills and work experience.

Now that we know and understand what the three types of resumes are let’s see how they are different. Chronological resumes list work history in reverse chronological order, with the most recent job listed first. Functional resumes focus on skills and experience rather than on employment history. Combination resumes list skills and qualifications first, followed by work history.
