This week we will be visiting the Newark Earthworks.

The Newark Earthworks, located in Newark and Heath within Licking County, Ohio, is a historic site of great significance. Originally spanning over four square miles, it includes three preserved portions: the Great Circle, the Wright Square, and the Octagon. These earthworks, constructed by American Indians 2,000 years ago, are used as ceremonial sites and exhibit extraordinary geometric precision. The Newark Earthworks Museum, situated at the Great Circle, offers educational and interpretive programs. The site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in September 2023.
