Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness practice has been used to reduce depression symptoms, to reduce stress, anxiety, and in the treatment of addiction.

Mindfulness meditation is the process of developing the skill of bringing one’s attention to whatever is happening in the present moment. Mindfulness meditation allows us to suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness, to ourselves and others. There are several meditation exercises designed to develop mindfulness meditation. One method is to sit on a chair, on the floor, or a cushion, close your eyes and bring attention to the sensations of breathing.  In is not about controlling your breathing, but attempts to simply be aware of your natural breathing process/rhythm.
